Paintings free work

With the theme of my paintings, I reflect on the surrounding world that is constantly changing. Man and animal play an important role in this. Life force and instinct, rituals of primitive people, environment and climate, sometimes with a touch of humor, are the ingredients of a painting.

Portrait in oil, acrylic or pastel

My portraits in oil paint and acrylic - from only the head to full-length - give a clear view of the person and are executed in a realistic-impressionistic painting style.
With the oil paint portrait the paint layers have to dry out in the meantime, but with an alla prima portrait in acrylic paint I often work directly on a living model.

With the portraits in pastel chalk I use colored paper as a base and the pastel is partially layered, but by leaving fragments open, they radiate a certain airiness

Procedure portrait assignment

With a commissioned portrait an appointment is made after an informative conversation. This will discuss your wishes and the possibilities. In addition, I make a series of photos that give me a good picture of the person who has to be portrayed: Especially with small children this is very nice. Usually two or three times posing is sufficient. If this is not possible, I can work with good photos such as with e.g. a posthumous portrait.

Stars on the canvas

In 2012 I was invited to take part in the popular television program Sterren op het Doek, presented by Hanneke Groenteman and for which I was allowed to paint former goalkeeper and football celebrity Hans van Breukelen.

Also for the council chamber of the new town hall of the municipality of Westland in Naaldwijk I got the assignment to paint a new official portrait in oil of the royal couple
